The Outfit I’ve Been Reaching for on Repeat This Summer

Summertime is my favourite season, and even with temperatures reaching 29°C, I've found the recent warm weather surprisingly pleasant. What's even more delightful is that, while I expected to add a few new pieces to my wardrobe, I've spent most of the season rotating the same handful of outfits instead. So these are the pieces that have become my summer uniform.

The Black High-Waisted Mini Skirt

When I first spotted this skirt on the H&M app, I knew it belonged in my wardrobe. Not because it's a classic black staple, but because it checked off my miniskirt criteria — high-waisted, double pockets, and fully lined.

It defines my waist and feels structured without looking stiff, which is exactly what I want from an A-line skirt. For a preppy twist, I wear it with a long-sleeve linen shirt and loafers. When I want to look a bit more polished, I pair it with my black shirt from Uncle Studios; the quality of their shirts and tees has become some of the best-made pieces in my wardrobe. On casual days, it goes well with my short-sleeved shirts and sandals.

The White Denim Mom Shorts

I think it's fair to call this my "rediscovered favourite" since they are a pair I actually forgot I owned because they were tucked away in storage.

I only wore them a few times last summer, so I was thrilled to find that they still hold their shape well. Because they fit so well, they've become one of the most-worn pieces in my wardrobe this summer.

My current go-to styling formula is pairing them with an open-collar checked shirt and sandals, but my favourite look right now is borrowing my partner’s geometric short-sleeve button-down shirt for that effortless, borrowed-from-the-boys feel 😉

The Striped Playsuit

This piece has officially cemented itself as part of my summer uniform and one of the easiest outfits in my wardrobe to style.

The linen moves softly against the body, doesn't cling in the heat, and catches the breeze when I walk. It's unlined and feels almost weightless on warm days, and I love the slightly rough, organic texture. I don't even mind the creases, and in my opinion, the wrinkles add character to the outfit. I keep it easy and understated by layering it over my favourite Uncle Studios tee with a pair of leather sandals and some simple jewellery.

The Flowery Short Dress

Nothing feels more like summer to me than a flowery short dress. It’s light, drapes beautifully, and moves softly with the body as I walk. On especially warm days, it’s the piece I reach for when I want to feel comfortable without looking too casual. I usually keep the styling simple, adding delicate gold jewellery and a mini woven bag, so the outfit feels slightly more dressed without trying too hard.

Looking at these outfits together, I realised they all share the same qualities: they’re light enough for warm days, easy to style without much thought, and polished enough that I still feel put together. This summer has reminded me that I don’t necessarily need a completely new wardrobe; I just need a few pieces that earn their place by being worn again and again.

I’d love to know what you’ve been reaching for most this summer. Have there been any pieces you keep repeating, or any purchases that have unexpectedly become favourites? Let me know in the comments.
