The Little Things

The way he saw through me
Past my mistakes
Past my faults
Past my darkness
Gave me hope

The way he looked at me
With warmth
and respect
With compassion
With love
Made me safe

The way he made me belong
With his eyes
With his words
With his touch
Gave me comfort

The way he speaks
With verve
And empathy
With clarity
And confidence
Whets my faith

The way he calls me home
And expresses it in his words
In his thoughtful deeds
With candour and intensity
Pulverised my doubts
Expunged my fear

Because of your love
Because of the little things you do
I’m at peace
I’m me
