My Favourite Lip Oils for Soft, Glossy Lips

My Favourite Lip Oils for Soft, Glossy Lips

My skincare routine can be anything from advanced (cleansing, preventing, correcting and protecting), balanced (cleansing, treating and protecting) or more minimalist (cleansing and protecting). And for me, it doesn't just stop there, because my routine includes both my eyes and lips. That said, I wanted to quickly share with you a few lip products, particularly lip oils that I've incorporated into my routine.

Clarins Comfort Lip Oil

I know I've gabbed about this lip oil* a lot, but for good reason. It's one of the few lippies I always always repurchase just because it's super nourishing and deeply hydrating, and leaves my lips incredibly soft. It has a mirror-like shine that leaves lips looking plump and healthy. You will find this in my everyday bag and my travel makeup bag. Like most lip oils, I have to reapply after about 3 hours of wear for that glassy finish. My go-to shade is Honey, and I also have the Mini in Cherry.

No7 Lip Oil

The first thing I noticed about the No7 Pro Artist Lip Shine Oil in shade Berry Glaze* was the scent, which reminded me of Robot's banana-flavoured bubble gum. It makes this pop sound when I open it. I could instantly feel the weight of the oversized doe-foot wand, which makes application faster. I find that it's more of a polished gloss than an oil because it leaves a really high shine. It's super hydrating, non-sticky and leaves my lips feeling comfortable. I find that I have to reapply after about 95 minutes.

Tom Ford Soleil Hydrating Lip Oil

The Tom Ford Soleil Hydrating Lip Oil 01 Bare Beach has been a lippy I've wanted to try for a long time. It comes in a 6ml tube, and it feels more like a lip gloss than a lip oil. It glides on smoothly, and I could barely feel the doe-foot brush of the applicator. It gives this "your lips but better" effect with an understated pink tint similar to the No7. It's infused with vitamin E and coconut oil to boost hydration all day, and my lips felt softened and moisturised. Also, the scent I noticed is very subtle. This lasted for about two hours before I needed to reapply for that glossy finish again.

Swatches and Verdict

I use lip oils much like I'd lip balms. I use them as a prep before makeup, throughout the day and as part of my nighttime skincare routine. And since I have dry lips, keeping them moisturised and comfortable is always a priority. I also think it's worth noting that when I reapply, it's usually for the shine rather than the hydration itself because even when the glossy finish fades, my lips still feel soft, nourished and conditioned.
