Recently, I have realized that I have been consistent with my skincare routine, and I guess working from home has helped me keep my skincare regimen on track. Anyway, I am excited because this is the first time in a long time that I have been consistent with my skincare routine, and I thought why not share it. I have a combination skin type that is acne and blemish-prone. So, I consulted a skin expert who recommended the steps and products that I have highlighted below.

The first step in my skincare routine is removing dirt, makeup, excess oil and sweat from my face with a gentle cleanser. I use the EltaMD foaming facial cleanser because it’s a gentle and leaves my skin feeling clean and balanced. I use this in the morning and at night. The only downside for me is how long it takes to foam.

I use the Skinceuticals Silymarin CF. It’s an antioxidant serum explicitly formulated for oily and blemish-prone skin. It contains salicylic, ascorbic and ferulic acid among others which helps to reduce blemishes, rough texture, fine lines and wrinkles.
Though my skin is a work-in-progress, I’ve noticed a visible difference in the texture of my skin. I apply three drops of the product to my face and neck daily.

I use the Skinceuticals Discoloration Defense Serum, an acid-based exfoliator that helps unclog my pores. It also helps in improving the blemish scars on my skin. It’s key ingredients are niacinamide, hepes, and tranexamic acid. I apply 3 to 5 drops of the product to my face and neck morning and night.

This process is the last step in my daily skincare routine. To protect my skin, I use sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30. However, I am currently using the Black Girl Sunscreen. I like this sunscreen because it doesn’t leave a white cast on my skin.
